We finally left on December 10, 2019 about 9:30 am. 55 degrees in Cumberland Foreside, Odometer on the (as yet unnamed) camper van reading 1492 miles, Trip meter at 0.0. Our first stop was in Goffstown, New Hampshire at the home of Judy’s cousin Bitty and her husband Paul, where we had a delicious lunch with them and with cousin Paul and his wife Terri, who contributed yummy pork pie.

We continued west through New Hampshire, Vermont, a driving sleet and snow storm in Massachusetts and New York, and spent the night in Kingston, NY. At. a. Courtyard. The next morning we traveled down the Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway through the Delaware River Water Gap to Tom’s River, New Jersey to visit Doug’s niece Jennifer, her husband Rich, and her son Sam, who was playing his saxophone that night in a Christmas concert. We had not found warmer weather yet.

On December 12 we got an early start south on the Garden State Parkway and a calm, sunny water passage from New Jersey to Delaware on the Cape May – Lewes Ferry.

We arrived in Annapolis, Maryland – cold, again!!! – we walked around, ate dinner at Mike’s Restaurant & Crabhouse, and again, stayed at the Courtyard. To explain, we did not have water or plumbing in the van. It had been winterized while we were still in Maine and would not be de-winterized until we reached Virginia.
As I write this it is Christmas Eve. We are thinking of family and friends, far away. We wish everyone all the blessings of hope and love, and a prosperous and happy new year! Love, Judy & Doug
It was great having you in MD/DC! Bon voyage!
